Right now, in most cases, existing copper line are used for xDSL. Alcatel platform can be upgraded further. I think the next stage will be fiber to neighborhood with last few hundred yards with copper using VDSL, which can provide over short distance tenths of Mbit/s. Very economical and high capacity system, sufficient to provide music,vice, fast internet and more. Zbyslaw
