GPRS Data Rates to Be Capped 6:48:14 AM 10/9/2000 New GPRS phones to be launched this year will have limited transmission speeds to prevent them from overheating and to keep within radiation absorption limits. As a result, few of the phones will be able to deliver on their lofty promises, which virtually guaranteed light speed data access. However, all is not lost; GPRS phones will charge users by the data bit rather than the minute of use, so users will only pay for the content they download.
