Of course,.. but Irangate was a big too-do over something that was later changed by congress itself... Indicative of why congress should not intervene into foreign policy...

If congress opted to amend the War Powers act every time they didn't like a particular foreign military action, we could see the Republicans doing the same thing over Kosovo... or over East Timor.... or over Iraq....

It's just not the way to run foreign policy and only the democrats were moronic enough to pull such a stuck and tag it onto a "Xmas tree" bill....

But you're right, we've often seen lies told in the name of national security.... Some worked, some didn't.... some were just plain stupid...

But the point was that Ronald Reagan was never caught "red-handed" with irrefutable evidence that he lied under oath.

Clinton WAS.... And in his typical socio-pathic manner, he says it was all everyone else's fault, not his.
