I'm thinking about what you said, and I'm still not getting how an Executive Order alone (or a Judicial ruling for that matter) would cause large-scale gun confiscation. I think you need to walk me step-by-step how this would come about because I'm just not seeing it. If Executive Orders can't force integration, for example, how are they going to do it with gun ownership?

I agree that the appointees will be important. Appointees that say its okay to have rights as long as they are they are consistent with some religious or conservative POV worry me more.

I don't think that being arrested for seatbelts is a direction I want to go either but neither do I want random stops with drug sniffing dogs (ala Indiana), also before the Supreme Court. I lived and worked in places where this was the policy. I can tell you first hand -- it sucks. I had to take a urine test to get my last job. I am not a drug user and it was still an invasion of my privacy allowed by law. Then there is the asinine War on Drugs that does nothing to solve the problem, yet fills federal prisons with non-violent people. I have two daughters. I want safe and legal abortion as an option. If I had to choose between guns and my daughters' rights, sorry, but the guns would go because I think there is adequate protection from the 50 Reserve Commander's in Chief.

I'm an engineer with a pretty good physics and chem background, and I don't think munitions are too hard to make in the unlikely event of stormtroopers. I'll take that chance and bank on my adaptability.
