It is a pleasure to "debate" someone as articulate as you are. And you probably already know that I also find it totally acceptable to "agree to disagree" sometimes. You made very impressive and compelling arguments. My sister drives a Suburban - all of 105 lbs of her - and she would "high five" your wife. She is also very well educated. I don't remember when she started driving them, but it's been a while, maybe 1992 or so. I argue with her all the time about it, and I love her dearly. By the way, I don't really consider the LS a guzzler. That is a very well engineered engine, and the car presents acceptable fuel mileage, particularly on the highway. I would guess it might sneak in within my 20mpg "all around" real world mileage target. Vehicles that do worse are probably skirting with my definition of a "guzzler". You have made a very fine choice in an automobile. That car is among the best built cars from America. I wish more consumers would take a look before rushing into an import dealership (and I drive an import, although my wife does not). The fit and finish of the LS makes it a great deal if you ask me, although resale value will probably remain inferior to it's competitors.

Once again, you're a gentleman and a scholar Dr. Mike. Please contribute at SI when time permits.

PS: I drive a Honda Prelude Vtec (2.2 liters) and my wife drives a Chrysler Cirrus (2.5 liters). The amazing NSX - the car I respect most in the world - provides supercar performance with only 3.0 liters, and no supercharging or turbocharging.
