With its alliances with EMC, Nortel, Adva, IBM, Compaq, etc, CMNT has a 3-year lead on the competition -- with the installed base to match -- that is going to be hard to beat.
As soon as CMNT starts to post consistent numbers, there is no doubt in my mind that it will get an Inrange type of market valuation.
CNT Experts Define Fibre Channel Over IP and Other WAN Technologies at FCTC Company Leverages Its Leadership in Delivering Industry's First FC Over IP Solutions to Highlight Benefits and Opportunities of New Storage Networking Option
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct 9, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Computer Network Technology (CNT) (Nasdaq: CMNT chart, msgs), the global specialist in storage networking solutions, today announced their participation in the Fibre Channel Technology Conference (FCTC) starting today in San Jose, Calif. Addressing the explosive demand for real-world insight into deploying storage networking applications over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, CNT will lead and participate in sessions designed to demystify this process using Fibre Channel and other storage networking technologies.
FCTC is dedicated to Fibre Channel and offers the latest information on storage area networks, clustering, disk and server farms, scalability, RAID systems, redundancy, and fault tolerance. Two-hour technical tutorials and one-hour open tutorials provide in-depth information. At the conference, CNT will participate in the following sessions:
-- Birds of a Feather Session: Storage over Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP) -- On October 10 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Brian Larsen from CNT will participate in a discussion on the key methods for delivering storage over IP with representatives from Ciprico, Genroco, NuSpeed, and Pirus Networks.
-- Open Session: Breaking the Storage Area Network (SAN) Distance Barrier
-- On October 11 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Steve Pheneger will discuss the role of Fibre Channel over WAN implementations in enterprise storage networks and review how to apply WAN technologies to SAN applications.
-- Tutorial Session: Fibre Channel over IP - On October 12 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Brian Larsen will provide an in-depth discussion on methodologies, issues, and benefits of using an IP network as the infrastructure for remote storage movement. He will highlight how this strategy, used for certain applications such as backup and restore operations, offers new low cost options for interconnecting localized Fibre Channel SANs.
"Enterprise-wide storage networks that span any distance are the next frontier for organizations that require storage access over wide-areas to handle increasing business continuance demands and distributed operations," said Brian Larsen, director of product management - open systems, of CNT. "Today, the focus is on IP-based storage networking, and as the only storage networking company in the industry delivering products and services rather than plans for storage directly over IP, CNT will bring a level of experience to its sessions that should be extremely beneficial to attendees."
CNT is a 17-year veteran that consistently delivers innovative wide-area storage networking solutions. In 1998, CNT was first to enable SAN applications to operate over wide area networks. In November 1999, CNT was the first vendor to deliver Fibre Channel over wide area networking support, and the company continues to be the only vendor to offer this capability. In February 2000, CNT shipped the first solution to offer the ability to deploy EMC's SRDF data replication application over IP, and in April 2000, CNT shipped the industry's first 'Fibre Channel over IP' and 'SCSI over IP' capabilities.
