Kat: Sure, Texas Instruments has been beaten down as have many "semiconductor" stocks which tend to move down together even though their products and markets are very different.

My puzzlement with Moore's comment is the "gorilla like" aspect, which I can not see. That TXN is a King in DSP and ADI a prince has been evident for some time.

My only caution was that TXN is not (yet) a major player in CDMA and therefore is behind the curve in CDMA rapid wireless data transfer as of now.

Wireless has been a good market for TXN as a supplier of GSM and TDMA phone innards for the likes of Nokia and Ericsson. I was just suggesting that looking ahead, that market is likely to grow less rapidly as time goes on.

It remains to be seen how TXN participates in a CDMA wireless world if and when that happens.

But TXN has many markets for its DSP and analog chips, software and other products; and its track record, management strength, and technology skills are there for anyone who wishes to look to see and evaluate for themselves.

If Kings fit your approach, TXN is worth DD.

My concern is that some here may think TXN is somehow "gorilla like" simply because Moore made that remark. Maybe so, but Moore certainly has not said why.

Best.

PS In the interest of disclosure, I bought TXN as one of my first individual stocks, 2 shares, in the late 1960's and have been in and out ever since - I am now in and have been for 3 years or so.
