JACKPOT! Clown downgrades: biz.yahoo.com Salomon Smith Barney and Lehman Brothers both cut their ratings of software companies Altera Corp. (NasdaqNM:ALTR - news) and Xilinx Inc. (NasdaqNM:XLNX - news). Downgrades of Altera and Xilinx were due to continued deterioration in environment for general purpose semiconductor chips, according to Salomon.
