My puzzlement with Moore's comment is the "gorilla like" aspect

This almost reflects the discussions we have on this thread about which stocks are gorillas. The ideal gorilla would have clear cut characteristics but in our real world there aren't very many 2000 lb. gorillas and 800 lb. ones are hard to come by.
