Albanians are in big trouble...Sunday Times will soon proclaim "Albanian Terrorists in Kosovo-the ,,,""
Dear Dr. GOldnow, may I respectfully ask where your loyalties lies, is it with Belgium-Chukchis, Albanians, Kirkiz on Amu-Darya, or the Terra Santa?? ggg
What seemed like a protest by a few hotheads is now looks like mini civil war. I believe Yasar Arafat has one more time miscalculated the Israeli resolve. He thinks that if he keep making trouble for Jews, sooner or later Jews will abandon Israel and go back to the Ghettos and Shtetels in Europe! ggg With brinkmanship, he has managed to grab the attention of the mass media. He loves to play the role of the underdog, the freedom fighter, and revolutionary. But this time he has gone too far.
He has failed to adapt himself to changing times. Instead of fighting against terrorism, and unemployment, ignorance in his tiny so-called State, he has tried to take on the Zionist enemy. The hell broke loose after Ariel Sharon visit to the Temple Mount! Sharon is not a saint and he should not have gone there in the first place. None of the ardent Zionists before him did that mistake. But so what? Was a visit worth the anger and the blood shed on the both side? Palestinians started the circle of violence just for a visit. Instead of trying to control his people Arafat added fuel to the anger. Istead of puting a lid on the anger, he added fuel to it. He has probably succeeded to securing a place in the cabinet for Gen. Sharon, something that most Israelis do not want. All this blood and violence for a visit???
Thanks to Arafat, the peace process is now dead. No matter how much US pressures prime minister Barak. After all, Ehud Barak is only the prime minister and can not yield without majority approval of the parlement. He knows that Clinton sent Rabin to his death, by forcing him to forge a peace with Araft. He will not make the same mistake. No self respecting Israeli will agree to a peace with Araft and his gang under such conditions.
This has been a sobering experience for the Israelis who have been wodnering if Araft is a man with whom they can live. How can he be trusted as the keeper of the holy sights for hundreds of millions of Christians and Jews? When Israel handed over the Tomb's of Joseph to Palestinians in Nablus, the Jewish holy place was immidiatley ransacked by Arabs, and under the watchful eyes of the Palestinian Police. Are Jews supposed to go to sleep trusting their lives in the hand of these thugs?
Regretfully, Arafat has proved that the far right in Israel is right in not trusting him and the Arabs! Aba Eban once said Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Indeed he was right.
Now Arafat is seeking counsel from President Chirac of France! If President Clinton and the United States of America with their great prestige didn't have the chance to broker the peace, what the France can do for him?
Maybe time has come for Palestinians to take a serious look at their leadership. I believe Israelis want peace as much as Palestinians do, but peace with security, and not peace with terror. I doubt if Arafat and his gang would qualify on that account. |
