Nice day to be in the patch so far, and short tech as well - vbg. The driller's are showing some real strength.

All this talk about the small entrepreneur makes me think we could collectively as a board have formed the "SI Drilling Co" and bid on SPR oil.

Since this deal is supposed to be a swap, I'm not clear on exactly what a "bid" would be - other than just throwing your name in a hat and proving you have a pulse (and are a Democrat - wink wink).

We as a group are most likely far more solvent, and knowledgeable, than the three questionable winners.

But, I wonder about the details. Does anybody know how the physical market would work? Where do you take delivery, what are the fees to ship via pipeline to your buyers? Likewise, assuming we bought futures to cover the swap, sold the oil immediately, and sat on $100 million for almost a year to collect interest - where do we take futures delivery, and do we pay pipeline fees to ship it to the SPR?

Sounds like a good deal to me, depending on shipping costs. My only problem is I'm not a Democrat or minority, so would likely have been disqualified.
