Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of 1-800 Contacts Inc. (CTAC) fell more than 21%
Tuesday after losing more than 23% in Monday's session. One analyst said it
could be a result of a "sell" recommendation from an investor newsletter.
C.E. Unterberg Towbin Co. analyst Daniel Ries said he heard that the Cabot
Market Letter, available to subscribers only, had recommended investors sell
the stock.
Ries had upgraded 1-800 Contacts to buy from neutral on Friday, based on
valuation, he said.
Investor message boards on the Internet also mentioned the Cabot sell
recommendation.
Officials at Cabot weren't immediately available for comment, and a spokesman
was not able to confirm the sell recommendation.
Officials at 1-800 Contacts, which sells contact lenses via the Internet and
over the telephone, were not immediately available for comment.
Shares of the company were recently down $7.25, or 21.2%, to $27 on volume of
316,000 compared with average daily volume of 230,600.
