Greg, I'll let Solon address that. He clearly has more issues with the practice of Christianity than I do. I'm really quite tolerant. To me,some of the stuff in the Bible seems poorly thought out and inconsistent with my world view, but that's just my opinion.

That the Inquisitions were done in the NAME of Christianity is unrefutable. That it has much to do with MODERN Christians is highly questionable. However, there are those that do seem to have the propensity to force their beliefs on others and make loud, public pronouncements of it...

It's really a PR problem, like modern Neo-Nazis trying to completely disown the deeds of those who formerly carried their flag. It is hard to get all those old images out one's head and listen to the new and improved Nazis (if such a thing is even possible).

Again, Solon should address this, not me. I don't think I'm guilty of it. I hope you don't.
