Hi Cosmo
I would agree that Solon clearly has a lot of issues.
Most of his arguments are clearly emotive, rather than dealing with the issues of truth. For instance if it is fair to say that Christianity is not true because so much evil has been done in it's name then it is just as valid to argue that because Atheistic communists killed so many people in this century then Atheism must also be false. What about all the good that has been done. How many hospitals have been built by Atheism? Of course it is fair to examine the way people say one thing and do another. That is really more a matter of acting in a manner consistent with what one claims to be true, than it is a matter of truth itself. Of course if ones philosophy cannot be lived out then it does call into question the validity of that philosophy. I have been trying (I know not very well) To point that out about the impossibility of building a cohesive philosophy of life from a Godless material existence. I don't think it can be done without smuggling in all the tenants of Theism first. If that is the case doesn't that point to the truthfulness of Theism?

I would like to explore with you, starting with just the fact of consciousness(I think therefore I am), and working away from that to see where that leads. Interested?
Got to run for now
Have a good day
Greg
