As one who had a research appointment to Harvard years ago, the policy was always to accept some legacies and some people from very prominent families--with the arrogance that these people will be influencial so they should have a Harvard background.

It was reported in the NY Times that Bush had neither the SAT's nor the grades to get him into Yale, but he did have his dad's connections.

Whether one chooses to vote for him or not is personal. But to say that he must be intelligent because he went to Yale is flat-out wrong.
