The claim repeated by FinancialWeb that NBCi has "16 million users" is highly suspect if it includes Xoom members. Xoom, you will recall, claimed 14 million "members" but the vast majority were one-time registers who never returned after satisfying their curiosity. All Xoom had was their email addresses. Most "members" did not buy anything. Quite a few quit over Xoom's persistent server problems. It is telling that in the five weeks since the change-over from Xoom to NBCi as of last night only 132 "users" out of the 14 million supposed Xoom "members" have "signed up" for the NBCi "members club." That's 132 out of 14,000,000! Presbyterians get a better response when they pass the collection plate. Who really audits these claimed numbers, anyway?
