Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Proteome Systems announced today the opening of a US proteomics factory in Woburn, Massachusetts on 16 October 2000. The 21,000 square feet, state-of-the-art factory will allow the company to carry out high throughput proteomics discovery programs and accelerate the development of its proprietary high throughput proteomics technology platform. The factory will include a demonstration and training facility to showcase the company's leading edge proteomics capabilities. The facility is configured for GMP/GLP certification which will ensure adherence to the highest standards of manufacture and discovery program execution. Proteome Systems intends to release the front end components of its technology platform to the market in first quarter 2001. The balance of the platform will be available progressively over the following 12 months. The technology platform is currently being beta tested in the company's in-house discovery programs in Sydney. The Boston team will be led by Dr Bill Skea, Dr Mary Lopez and Dr Malcolm Pluskal, three of the leading proteomics scientists in the industry.
