"We are excited about this opportunity to partner with Tech Data and Plasmon to bring this innovative solution to the channel," said Richard Kay, president and CEO of OTG Software. "According to Ferris Research, corporate email messages showed 50% growth over the past year, with another 35-50% increase expected next year. OTG's EmailXtender and DiskXtender products combined with Plasmon's leading storage hardware will help customers keep up with this explosive growth and help them better manage the daily deluge of email and attachments."
"Plasmon is pleased to extend their partnership to OTG Software and bring a true value add to the market," said Rob McPherson, President, Plasmon IDE. "Data storage is a key component of the new economy. Being able to find data is as important as storing it in the first place. Together, OTG and Plasmon can provide users with both parts of the equation."
"Among the many revolutionary changes introduced by the Internet, email is one that has completely transformed business communications both through convenience and efficiency, but also by the extraordinary storage requirements it's created," said Roy Appelbaum, vice president and general manager for Tech Data's networking and high-end storage technologies. "Through our exclusive alliance with OTG and Plasmon, Tech Data solution providers can confidently offer their customers an email storage management solution in an easily installed bundle. We are pleased to introduce this exciting email storage solution to our product line."
EmailXtender, recently launched by OTG in June 2000, is a new email management solution designed to make email a better business tool. EmailXtender provides fast access to stored emails and enables quick email restoration after virus attacks, as well as elimination of size restrictions on mailboxes and messages. EmailXtender extends the message stores of Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino/Notes, increasing server reliability and uptime, as well as reducing server backup time. The product automatically moves data off the email message server and into the storage system, automatically capturing and indexing all incoming and outgoing emails. The stored emails can then be easily retrieved via any web browser or Microsoft Outlook plug-in, in conjunction with search engine technology. EmailXtender uses enterprise-level security and only authorized users have access to the complete archive.
DiskXtender 2000 is a solution for intelligent, automated storage management and access to enterprise data. DiskXtender 2000 provides fast access to storage of critical business data from the desktop, corporate intranets or the Web, improving productivity and lowering the cost of ownership of mission critical data. Certified with over 600 hardware devices from standalone disks to automated libraries, DiskXtender 2000 provides online access to data and advanced automation services for storage resource management.
Plasmon's AutoTower storage devices support 2, 4 or 6 DVD-RAM drive configurations and are available in 120, 240 and 480 disc models. AutoTower is a plug-and-play storage solution with library, management software and certified DVD-RAM media from a single vendor. AutoTower installs quickly and easily on any network, is predictable and reliable, and features dual-picker technology. Plasmon's M-Series MO (magneto-optical) jukeboxes feature multiple SCSI bus configurations to optimize support of multiple users and data throughput. M-Series also features a compact footprint and supports rewritable and continuous composition WORM (CCW) media.
