I can't remember, did the Fed cut rates October 1998 right before options expiry or was it a few days before? Seems like I remember it was the same day. Edit: the Fed cut rates on Thursday, October 15, 3:15 p.m. Eastern, and options must have expired on Friday, October 16.

You're right about the daily paper cuts. What do you make of the bulls coming over to the thread to ask how to short? I think there were a couple in March-May but of course they changed their tune. What kind of indicator is it, do you suppose?
