Another book I enjoyed was The Billion-Dollar Molecule : One Company's Quest for the Perfect Drug by Barry Werth describing the very early days at VRTX. I read this back in about 1995, before I had ever heard of VRTX - I should probably re-read it now. <g> Another (somewhat less successful but still fairly interesting) book is The Golden Helix : Inside Biotech Ventures by Arthur Kornberg. More a string of biographies than a coherent narrative, though, as best I recollect. The Robbins-Roth book also had some interesting nuggets about the early days of biotech, but clearly could have done with a determined editor. Peter
