I really don't understand what the big deal is about Q4 and possible price wars. Intel has just today confirmed that AMD owns the above 1 Ghz segment for the next several months. I hope that AMD is planning on catching a lot of "previous" Intel high-end builders as "under-supplied targets of opportunity" during the next few months. To shoot for less than 7.2 million Athlons in Q4 would be crazy.

If some high Mhz/Ghz inventory had to be carried over to Q1, then so what! We know that Intel will not have any significant offering in quantity for a couple of quarters anyway, so ASPs would not suffer significantly.

A number of announcements have been made recently about AMD system builder wins (MicronPC, Tiny, Vobis, etc). I think we will find that AMD's efforts with the small and medium builders has also been productive during the past few months.

AMD has also added some additional flash contracts and also mentioned the upward adjustment of some contract prices.

All of these announcements have little to do with Q3 but a lot to do with Q4 and future quarters. I guess I just don't understand all the concern at this point. AMD looks to be in the drivers seat. And the guy in the drivers seat usually begins to gain some control and the ability to influence things in the future.
