Greg: Couple of more things I just thought of to add to my earlier post.

1. Risk - It's a function of risk as well. Key factor. You've probably heard me say over and over that I personally believe a primary life goal should be to become debt free. I hate debt. I hate margin.

Those that can assume more risk will of course have a much different decision point on when it's time to close a position. Some will feel the agony and pressure to sell sooner than others.

2. When I consider closing a position, I may only close a portion of it and hold the remainder assuming more risk in doing so. I didn't clarify that in my previous post. I got to thinking that many times as a safety feature when assessing if a position has or might be turning against me, I'll sell maybe half and take it off the table just to play it safe. I've done that a lot recently with JDSU while I scratch my head on those Dec calls I hold.

I'll do this typically when I hear some potentially bad news that could, or has, negatively impact the stock. I'll sell part and wait to see what develops.
