I understand the implied humor, but even if we were to take this company at its word, why does the market view this to be a "QCOM-killer"? (I ask this realizing that I'm leaving the door open for more humor ;-)

QCOM still has the IP for CDMA, so these guys would end up paying QCOM for that. So worst case, QCOM would lose out on the chip sales for base stations. Presumably the technology from these guys could be used to produce handset chips too, but Spinco would have multimode chipsets for the modes of interest covered.

So in total, it seems like we'd see only a limited impact on QCOM's revenue. And that's assuming that this "news" has some truth to it. Or am I missing something?

Just trying to rationalize the market's reaction (I know - that's not something a sane person should try...).
