There's something so mature and sobering about voting for President. It's right up there with the following experiences:

1. You look at yourself in the mirror and realize your birthday suit isn't ever going to come back in style.

2. You look at your lawn and accept the fact that crabgrass and dandelions are good for the environment. You consider whether allowing the yard to become a wildlife refuge might be a better choice.

3. You realize that no matter how hard you squint, and how long your arms are, you're going to need to give it up and get bifocals.

4. If male, your annual physical examination now includes people taking intrusive personal liberties with parts that your spouse has probably never touched.

5. If female, your annual physical examination now gives literal meaning to the phrase, "tits in the wringer."

6. You accept the fact that people call you "sir" or "ma'am," that cops, teachers, judges, and other authority figures are younger than you, and wet behind the ears, and that sexy people of the opposite sex think you are invisible.

If you can handle this, you can handle the fact that the Presidential candidates are twits. My first choice was between Nixon and McGovern. My second choice was between Ford and Carter. This is NOT worse.
