Corning sees Q3 proforma share beating estimates

CORNING, N.Y., Oct 11 (Reuters) - Fiber optics maker Corning Inc. (NYSE:GLW - news) said Wednesday it expects to report
third-quarter pro forma earnings in the range of $0.34 to $0.35 per share.

Analysts, on average, expected the company to report a third quarter profit of 29 cents per share, compared to 19 cents per share it
reported in the year ago quarter, according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.

Corning said it is raising its full-year guidance to $1.15 to $1.17 per share. The company expects full-year pro forma earnings growth of at least 70 percent, an increase
from previous guidance of 60 percent.

The company said it continued to experience strong demand for its optical fiber and cable, photonic modules and components, and flat panel display glass products during
the third quarter.

Shares of Corning closed down $1-15/16 at $83, off a 52-week high of $113-1/4, up from a year low of $21-5/16.
