They are the largest ISP in Calgary with over 100,000 subscribers
and I've been pleased with their service and price over the last two
years.
Interestingly they had changed their hubs from Gandalf to Ascend under
a year ago.

CADVision is very excited about our new X2 service!
X2 is a modem technology from U.S. Robotics (USR) that allows for 56Kps download speeds over regular copper phone lines. X2 is viewed by many as the next logical step for faster Internet access.
CADVision is launching X2 service city wide as of Monday, May 19, 1997! If you want X2 today, we just wanted to let you know it is ready. :)
The most important application of X2 is the ability to watch streaming
full motion video! Imagine being able to watch the news, music videos,
or documentaries from your computer with a click of a mouse!
The most attractive feature of X2 is that you can still use your normal voice phone line with the modem. CADVision's fees for X2 service is
$219 / year or you can upgrade a 28.8 account for $4 / month.
CADVision is now selling USR 33.6 modems that are X2 upgradable. Given the number of modems CADVision purchases, our price point for internal and external USR modems is substantially less than most retail outlets. We are providing these modems to our customers so they can easily upgrade to X2
speeds.
WHAT IS X2?

X2 is the new method, developed by U.S. Robotics, for 56K downloads from the Internet over regular phone lines. X2 downloads (receives data) at up to 56Kbps. It uploads (sends data) at up to 33.6Kbps. CADVision customers will be able to surf the Internet at twice the speed of a 28.8 modem. Likewise, X2 is 4 times faster than a 14.4 modem. Combined with modem compression, speeds of 155 Kpbs are attainable with X2 technology.
X2 provides a great solution for those who want faster Internet access, because it allows you to use your current voice phone line with the phone company. The only extra costs required to run X2 are the modem and the fee with CADVision.
The key application of X2 is FULL MOTION VIDEO! You can watch videos
on the Internet that run at around 10 frames per second. Complete

IMO proxy documents are very interesting as they provide a wealth of
material not available in annual reports.
So far it makes interesting reading.
It is my feeling that with the latest price increases in USRX
the merger is almost a sure thing.
