Pretty interesting discussion about whether or not to trade only a handful of stocks. I think this is fine but one would probably have to rotate his/her core list of stocks as those stocks go in/out of favor?

That's true. To reevaluate my current core list and find new candidates I run a scan once a week to screen for stocks with a daily ATR of at least 6%, a high float turnover ratio and average daily volume above 3 million shares. I currently limit most of my daytrading to a handful of semi equipment and semiconductor stocks. Unfortunately, due to the recent NASDAQ swoon a lot of stocks that used to be great daytrading vehicles have become too "cheap". E.g. RFMD used to be my main trading stock, but ever since it split and then continued to drop into the high twenties it has lost a lot of its potential. KLAC has now taken its place.
