CO2 is increasing at a rate of about 3% per decade, not per 50 years. And it is accelerating very rapidly. It is fascinating to see how the recession of the late 80's is reflected in the rate of change. That recession, and particularly the short term leveling of the annual increase in fossil fuel consumption has ended. I entered the computer industry as a modeler of energy use and emissions - trying to coax the mainframes of 15 years ago into making national scale model runs in less than 8 CPU hours was half the problem.

Your information is wrong - but don't feel too bad, very few people are aware of how incredibly quickly we are changing the atmosphere.
