Shalom, I do believe that this thread is for believers of all faiths. For spiritualists and Christians, and any other religions have the right to post here.
"Sorry my friend, you have greatly misinterpreted and misunderstood the words of Jesus my Lord. You have in fact put words in my Lord Jesus's mouth! I know what you allude to and you are in grave error."
You are very, very well versed in the ways of righteously condemmining anyone who posts here. I like the adjectives that you use so frequently. Like (greatly)misinterpreted or in (grave) error. Poor Mars probly feels like he layed under a hay baler when he matched wits with the Shalom of the Ask God thread. :O)
Now, Mars was right in one sense. Had you ever studied the Olivet Discourse in Matthew, Mark, and Luke you would know that Jesus did in fact return in 70AD according to his prophesies regarding the destruction of Jerusalem and His Parousia. Now many have no doubt about this . Jesus did promise his disciples that some of them would be alive when he returned. It is also very evident that he was talking to his people and his generation and the Parousia would be the end of the "AGE" or Jewish dispensation, not the end of the world.
"This generation will by no means pass away until these things be fulfilled." Matt. 24:34
"There are some standing here eho shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom." Matt 16:28
(The Mount of Transfiguration 3 days later did not fulfill that prophesy, by the way.)
Now it is extremely evident using "Sola Scriptura" that Revelation was written by John for that present generation, not people living over 2000 years in the future." Really, ever since the 18 century and the Scofield bible men have been taught this bilk they compound error upon error.
As for the earth being moved out of its place and the terrible things happening, this is poetic liscense used by the Lord in that time just as the capture of Babylon was foretold and terrible judgement mentioned then in the Old Testament.
"9Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place." Isaiah 13:9-13
"Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. 5For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment." Isaiah 34:3-5
This is the literary nature of Prophesy, Mr. Shalom.
Do you know William L. Lane, Shalom? He, I believe, is one of your contemporaries who admit that "this generation" clearly refers to the contemporaries of Jesus.
To deny that the destruction of Jerusalem was not part of Jesus prophesies about the end times in 70AD is to deny the words of Christ and his disciples.
Please, accept Mars as the kind person that he is, not wanting any to perish, as our very Lord felt the same way.
Oh, just for your info., the Roman Armies standard, the Eagle was believed to be the object that desecrated the Temple and the "Beast" of Revelation was Nero.
shalom, Shalom.
