My point was about timing not price... and your philosophy is similar to mine, so it would seem.

The point is, you have certain expectations about timing... about buying stocks near the bottom, etc. We all need to examine our own expectations because unless we wait for Mr. Market to tell us when the bottom is near, we will end up buying greatly undervalued stocks and waiting months or years for something to happen.

Your assumption is that the market will recover quickly and all is right with the world... at least that is what I see from your posts. My point is that it could be a "This time it's different," situation where you might be left holding the bag for quite some time when you could be earning $$$ in risk free instruments waiting for the turn to come.

You may be right, you may be wrong. My risk is the capital I have sacked away since July 1, 1999, in interest bearing cash equivalents. And that capital won't move until we go a lot lower!
