That's true, however, the Internet Explorer download
also contains components not required by the Internet
Explorer control. For example, why should I need to
download the new common control DLL if all I
want to use is the browser component?
Conversely, if I want the new flat button look, why
should I have to download Internet Explorer in order
to get the common control DLL? It's pretty obvious
that the packaging of lots of goodies into a single
download that contains the browser is being used
to leverage people away from Netscape software.
All's fair in love and war, but I think it's a shame that
user's are forced to download components that are
peripheral to their needs. This sort of trojan horse
licensing strategy undermines part of the
reason for using components in the first place.
