For a more balanced view of the cold war, I suggest you read "The Fifty Year War" by Norman Friedman. BTW, I know how you feel, I, too, was once a DWL (Dumb, White, Liberal), it is always hard to realize that the Democratic Party is as filled with liars, thevies, and the power mad as any other party. I voted for Carter twice ( and am ashamed to admit it), I voted for Reagan once and am still proud to have done so.
