Dear NW: Thanks for pointing out the news. It gave me the incentive to go over to Yahoo! and see what is going on in the world, something I have not done is a good 10 days. So far I have only see the disturbing headlines.
In regards to oil prices: at 12:05 p.m. I telephoned one of two oil companies I deal with to find out the price of home heating oil. This company has the cheapest oil in the State because they only deal C.O.D. The woman said it was $1.359 as we spoke.
Normally one can get the price then lock in this price for delivery the following day--but no longer. She said oil was $1.189 yesterday afternoon, started off this morning at $1.259 and a few minutes before I called, changed to $1.359. As she said, "Oil is going crazy," and for the first time since their business opened [years and year ago], they were not locking in customers to a price: The faxes they received on pricing made it impossible for their drivers to fill up at the depot at set prices.
Then I called the second cheapest company. They quoted me $1.399, "At this very moment." Since I am an existing customer, they were willing to lock in the price for a delivery tomorrow. Although their price is higher as I type, I feel much better locking in this price.
Off to read the news-
