Hi Phoenix - as everyone here knows, I am not a technie, so what I am gonna to say can be laughable, but I cannot see how you insist a different architecture will necessarily increase cost with zero benefit, neither of which is certain. By pushing routing from the core to the edge, business will have more redundancy. One is not at the mercy of the core in case it is down. The current vendors enjoy substantial margin b/c they are the only game in town. Customers like service providers are held hostage. OTOH, by pushing it out to the edge, there are likely to be more vendors vying for the same customers. The latter pays less and thus can pass on the saving to the ultimate consumers.

I mean, the logic may be crude, but it seems that it doesn't support your point.

Realistically, I don't think there is a sea change. If it ever happens, it is likely to be a hybrid approach.

Just a wild guess
