[BC Telecom]

>BTW, I think your broker's a smart guy. :))<

Actually, my broker is a woman. I'm not sure on the details of the
testing, but I am sure that the decision process is a little further
along than just people expressing their opinions. BC Tel is very good
at directing their employees towards certain products and vendors. I ran into a woman the other day in a computer store and she was looking
for a new modem to replace her 28.8 Diamond Supra. She was a BC Tel
employee, an Internet user, and fairly knowlegable about the workings
of a computer. She was given a short list of compatible modems to BC
Tel's Sympatico Internet service as they prepare to upgrade to X2
capability, and was encouraged to buy a USR modem.

In the end, the teleco's are going to implement the technology that is
most cost effective. I truely believe that the only reason CAP is in
the (early) lead is price. I feel that the BA/WSTL deal is not going
ahead today, because WSTL/DSC cannot offer the $500 pricing for roll
out today, but in a year this would not be a problem.

Can you comment as to Amati's pricing? Any idea as to the bottom line
in WSTL/DSC's $500 pricing?

Thanks,

Mark
