M2,
The events are spooky when you compare them. However, things are a little different. Japan isn't dumping steel or kicking around the American car makers as badly now. Electronics is no longer their play pen. We can kick somebody's butt without starting WW III with Russia. China doesn't want a war any more then we do. We want to do business with them. Korea is starving and needs help more then it is a threat. The sexual revolution is over and marriage is in. AIDS killed that, but we haven't killed AIDS yet. Drugs are really frowned upon by the same people that experimented with them, but drug traffic appears to be stronger then it was then. Cigarettes are a social no no, rather then social smoking. PCs and the internet were not common. Wireless phones? SUV? Telex not FAX? Xerox was great for IBM typed memos and letters. Man I could go on all night. Today is very very different, but the results are very much the same.
