goodnight sweet gnet, it's been fun
"What's in a name? That which we call GNET, by any other name would be as sweet" Or not!
I don't know why we should be so sad....isn't this a good thing for GNET to have merged with INSP? Didn't we want GNET to gain recognition? Didn't we want GNET to become the largest ISP on the internet?
I've come to the conclusion that the main reason we are all so sad is that we have finally come to the realization that we will be losing some our best friends on SI. Not that any of us will be leaving, but that we won't be meeting on the GNET thread any more.
I know that now, we are all saying this GNET thread will live on, and we're all going to post here regardless, but the promises are hollow..much like when we graduated and swore we would never lose track of each other...
Up until now, we always had a common bond, and as of today, it is no more. How could we go to the INSP thread and start posting to our best friends about our "wife's shares" or Little O's college fund? And what about explaining Levy's sense of humor to new people? Remember how long it took us to figure it out?
We need JB for his great personality, and Pareto for his international intrigue. We're going to miss Playver and CB as our "friendly contrarians"
Would KLP bother to hand type a whole article for INSP??? Would Roger publish a post suitable for framing above a computer on the INSP thread? And what about everyone's favorite, Silver Tongue Devil, the cads on INSP already attacked him once for no apparent reason.
We won't have Homee to keep us advised as to the true goings on, or will we? What about Susan and BRK's post at 2:00 am? We always knew we could count on them for something GNET related when we stumbled to our computers with our coffee in hand at 7:00am.
I'm very sorry now that I wasn't able to meet some of the trillionaires and most of the GNET people last year at the stock holders meeting, but I did see all of the pictures, and I feel as if a small part of me was there! I guess LRNLATN, that was my way of lurking.
Sarkie, Carolyn and I going to Maui to meet Puna was the high light of my GNET experience. What memories, and I'll never tell what size coconut bra Puna wears.
To all of my best friends on GNET, let's promise to stay in touch! |
