I think this may have to do with the delayed P4 ramp than anything else.

I think we will not see 1.33 until mid-Novemeber or even late-November. So, there will be a month or so when AMD will not have any part over $500.

P.S.: The upside is that, this price move should put enormous pressure on the guys focussed on corporate systems to add some AMD to the mix. How do you justify buying a 733 or 800MHz PIII for $1500 when they can get a 1.2G Athlon for $2000? Assuming the $1500/$2000 numbers I am guessing are representative of comparably equipped systems, it will at least make a lot of MIS types stop and think.
