Samsung Electro-Mechanics Announces Wireless
Camera
(September.22, 2000 / SEM)
>
On September 21, Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) announced
the development of a wireless camera as an economical and
convenient alternative to closed circuit TV cameras. In addition to a
competitive price that is 80% lower than existing models, the new
camera has improved function due to wireless technology that
allows easy installation and connection to existing video and TV
systems.

With the development of this innovative product, SEM, which began to produce audio/video
transceivers in February, has made it possible to monitor activities within a radius of 100
meters. Four of the wireless cameras can be linked to one audio/video transceiver whose
output can be monitored via TV with a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz.

Park Kyong-Chun, a team leader, said, "The new product is highly price-competitive and
easy to install, making it suitable for closed circuit monitoring of public areas as well as
ideal as a baby monitor in bedrooms and play areas with its audio function."

Having a strong reputation among TV manufacturers and electronic product suppliers,
Samsung expects to begin mass production of the wireless camera from October and to
see a flood of orders for the product.
