Even discounting the dirty and sulfurous nature of coal and the cost of scrubbing the stack gases, coal is the worst in terms of putting CO2 into the atmosphere. Natural gas will increasingly be the hydrocarbon of choice for the generation of electricity. No way that coal will find much of a come back IMVHO.
