but. I'm having a hard time with the opinion of $300 entry being a barrier to e-books

I helped develop the ebook business model this summer, I know the features of the ebooks, I know what Henry wants to do with them, I know what Thomson wants to do with them, I know their costs, etc. Unfortunately I can't speak of most of these things.

One thing I can speak of is (1) college students do not have much use for the $299 RCA 1100 model book. The 1100 model screen is insufficient to display a full page of a paperback book, much less a textbook. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading paperback books on an 1100 (actually I also enjoy the same on my Handspring Visor) but if you want to put a textbook onto an ebook you need the 1200 model, entry price $699.

As for the other applications for ebooks and other uses, they are out there, it is my experience that Henry does not want to pursue them. I can answer questions in regard, and probably give a lot more information if you have any questions. I'll just have to refrain from revealing proprietary information. So let me know if you have any specific ebook questions and I'll answer them the best I can. Overall, Henry's vision for the ebook differs from what most Gorilla gamers might envision for the ebook. I can't say that I've been too thrilled with everything that Henry seems to have planned.
