CardioDynamics says held partnership talks with Agilent

NEW YORK, Oct 12 (Reuters) - CardioDynamics International Corp. (NasdaqNM:CDIC), maker of a patented device for monitoring cardiac functions, said on Thursday it has held preliminary talks on a possible strategic partnership with Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A)

The company told Reuters it has discussed alliances with other firms as well as part of its stated strategy to partner with leading companies and integrate its technology into their products.

The statement followed a report in financial weekly Business Week that Agilent is poised to team with CardioDynamics and may take a stake in the company.

"At this time, we have a strategic alliance only with GE Medical Systems," said Chief Executive Michael Perry. CardioDynamics and GE Medical announced in July that they would jointly develop and integrate CardioDynamics' BioZ technology in GE Marquette's patient monitoring systems.

GE Marquette is part of GE Medical Systems Co.

Under an Agilent deal, CardioDynamics would integrate that technology with Agilent's bedside monitors sold to hospitals, Business Week reported in Thursday's edition, citing an unnamed source.

Agilent officials could not be reached for comment.
