Hah! And I thought the new common control DLL was in and of itself a pretty compelling reason to use MSIE! :) (There's an even better one that comes with the 4.0 beta.)

I don't think there's anything insideous going on here. All this stuff (including the WebBrowser control) will be included in Windows 97. There are so many components that are useful for so many different things, that it would be difficult to package them all separately.

I like this stuff, though I don't like the MSIE browser. I'm afraid it leaves Netscape with a dilemma, since it's increasingly difficult to avoid loading MSIE into memory (and will probably be impossible in Win97, er Win98) and so if you run Netscape you pay the price of having two browsers in memory.
