James, Thank you for that most interesting post. I was particularly interested in this excerpt: How to interface DWDM equipment into the voice dominant legacy network is a CIEN stronghold, where capabilities include overlaying new upon old. A concern was expressed that incumbent telco's stop spending $ on expensive, Sonet equipment and transition to digital hardware that does voice and data (IP over Vo). I do believe Nortel will also excel at interfacing DWDM equipment into the voice legacy network. The recent announcement by Cable & Wireless that Nortel will transition their network into a VoIP which will substantially reduce costs. The poster is correct. In the long haul, this may be a contest between Ciena and Nortel.
