Ed, RE: The message boards are a cesspool and haven for those that practice such devious conduct. It's way past time for tougher policies or if they are presently in place, stricter enforcement.

'Those that practice such devious conduct' hang out on the penny stock boards. They do that because their BS can have an effect, and can generate some fraudulent gains.

On a stock board such as CSCO, the scumbags don't hang around. There is no way that anyone on this board has any effect at all on the price of CSCO. On the rare occurrence that someone actually tries to falsify a press release or other such action in a desperate attempt to move a larger cap stock, it is very easy to catch them.

You may disagree with the bears' opinion, Ed, but most probably they are mere stating an opinion rather than have the nefarious motives that you imply. And even if they had less than pure motives, their inability to move a stock would eventually lead them to the penny stock world. And with or without message boards, the penny stock world is a cesspool anyway.

In the end, what you propose wouldn't solve any problem at all. What it could do is limit legitimate free speech.
