Eric, Do you seriously think the damage to the ship was from a bomb on a little raft quite a distance away ? I know you are not a structural engineer. Neither am I. But consider these common sense facts.

1- the 10 missing sailors are still missing. If the explosion was from outside, the men would still be on the ship would they not ? How can the US navy not be able to find them in the ship if they had died from being thrown around in the ship ?

2- Try to imagine how an explosive can rip through 1 inch steel from a distance. Remember this cannot be a thousand pound bomb or anything like that. It is a small maneuverable rubber boat. If you assume it was a bomb from outside, how do you rip steel that way, and how do you bend it to the outside in the process ? Did you get a look at the pictures of the hole before it was covered ?

3- now, assume the opposite. that one of the bombs that are part of the ships arsenal blew up (ala the Kursk submarine). Now that would cause a big damage wouldn't it ? It would explode inside a confined space and rip a hole, right ? It would pulverize human bodies, so they can't be found.

I think the jump to terrorist attack scenario best serves those who want to incite hate for Arabs and Muslims in order to take their land. Sort of what happened when the Oklahoma bomb was first blamed on Arabs, sight unseen.

But I don't blame you Eric, because that is the only voice that is ever heard from the US so called news outlets.
