So that's what you call it when they give up? They cancelled it is the same thing as saying they canned it because they couldn't get it to work.

It wouldn't have gone anywhere. The window for a dual SDR DDR chipset for Athlon is closing rapidly. The # of such chipsets sold would never have paid for the development.

The DDR chipset on the other hand will be good for next 2 to 3 years.

What is a no-brainer for Intel is a seemingly impossible task for AMD. Why is this so hard?

It's a good question. Dual EV6 chipset should actually be easier to develop, since they are point to point, not shared connections. Based on my uninformed opinion, a shared bus that Intel is using should be trickier to work with.
