Zeev, I remember talking to you about your son's music. Hope he is doing o.k. I haven't read much moral linguistics since East Of Eden. You remember that discussion? Very interesting. One story I vaguely remember from the Bible condemns a man for "letting his seed spill onto the ground" during intercourse. His offense was not taking a life, but just preventing one. There are also references to "the womb" which show God's interest already present. (Do I sound like a right-wing religious fanatic yet ;^)? That culture's morays might have allowed for abortion, but I cannot imagine it looking anything like ours today. It seems to me most abortions are about convenience, not the health of the woman. Even in those cases religion realizes that one often chooses between the lesser of two evils. One post said that in the first couple days it is nothing at all, not a baby, certainly. "Only a kook would think so."
Hmmm.... the child came at an inopportune time, so it is not human, unless it is wanted, that is. "Want" is the key word.
Too bad. This is the age of convenience and doing what you want. Of course, what you want is what you "need". When those are no longer primary values, things may change. "Pro-choice" is the most clever advertising slogan in recent memory. Well, I think about this issue because it is so rich, but I am not crusading. If women want to abort it is their life. I just don't have to buy shallow rationalizations.
