[Pricing]

<<<Can you comment as to Amati's pricing? Any idea as to the bottom line in WSTL/DSC's $500 pricing?>>>

I have no idea how they get that number other than it's being the target price many others have mentioned following the Alcatel JPC award last summer. Even though some mentioned $300, I don't think many believe Alcatel can do it, nor can anyone else, for that matter. Not yet, at least.

<<< I feel that the BA/WSTL deal is not going ahead today, because WSTL/DSC cannot offer the $500 pricing for roll out today, but in a year this would not be a problem.>>>

This may be one reason, but I'm guessing it's because FlexCap offers too little for what it costs. Why else would you give up the one advantage you have ---- time to market --- if it weren't something major? If it were only price, they'd do some cost-averaging --- take some early losses --- and get the product out.

No, the Westell/DSC time lag is very puzzling. All along everyone's been saying CAP would be the first to be deployed and now we're hearing it'll be mid '98. Something doesn't compute.

Just my take.

Cheers!

Pat
