Re: Pricewatch has 30 vendors selling 1 GHz Pentium IIIs

With the cheapest at $665. How much demand is there for such parts when 1.1GHZ Athlons are available for $365?

AMD could probably offer as many 1.6GHZ Athlons as there is a market for if they priced them at $10,000 each. Manufacture two to three chips and AMD could then direct drop ship to any takers from the various pricewatch vendors.

It's not hard to keep parts listed in pricewatch if they are priced above what buyers are willing to pay. What's a challenge for FABs is keeping competitively priced parts available.
